Authorities Identify Junaid Khan as hero who prevented large scale massacre

Early Friday morning on-duty constable Junaid Khan who was holding his position at the main gate,had some suspicions about a man trying to enter the district sessions court in Mardan. In an attempt to stop him, the man blew himself up at the gate.

Junaid who was 24 years old lost his life but prevented what could have been a large scale massacre.

Constable Junaid stopped the suicide bomber at the entry gate and fired at him multiple shots at him which held him from entering the structure and he blew himself up.

The two bomb blasts on Friday that hit the courthouse killed 11 people and injured 27.

Two policemen and four lawyers were among those killed in the attack, according to DPO Mardan.

According to provincial Information Minister’s word, the attacker first threw a hand grenade and then detonated his suicide vest at the entry gate of the district and sessions court.

The incident occurred a few hours after an attack was foiled in Peshawar's Christian Colony early Friday morning in which four terrorists were killed.

Four suicide bombers with arms and ammunition had entered Christian Colony Warsak at 5:50 AM today, ISPR said. Four suicide bombers were gunned down while a civilian and Levies personnel were killed in exchange of fire.
