Karachi mayor moves SHC for speedy trial

Karachi: Newly elected mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar has submitted an application to Sindh High Court, seeking speedy trial of his cases.

The application was filed on the directives of Supreme Court Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali. During chief justice’s recent visit to Karachi Central Jail, Akhtar had complained about delay in justice.

In his written application, Waseem Akhtar contended that as many as 20 cases were lodged against him in a single day and his pleas for bail were not being taken up for hearing.
