Rabbani calls Sattar, says Highway has become “death trap”

ISLAMABAD: Mian Raza Rabbani, Acting President of Pakistan, today enquired after the health of Dr. Farooq Sattar by calling him on telephone at the hospital, said a statement issued here on Monday.

The Acting President also sent a bouquet of flowers to the injured leader of MQM. “The Acting President spoke on telephone to the Chairman NHA, Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarrar and shared deep concerns on the condition of superhighway,” the statement said.

He told the Chairman NHA that this road has become “a death trap”. He further said citizens are meeting with hazardous accidents every day and precious lives are being lost.

He directed the Chairman NHA to ensure an early completion of the project, in the meantime, to ensure that the diversions are properly made and adequate road signs are put up so as to make the superhighway a road for safer travel.

Farooq Sattar sustained injuries in a road accident when his car crashed into road barriers at the Super Highway when he was returning from Hyderabad on late Sunday night.

He is being treated a private medical facility in Karachi.
