Closure of Afghan border deteriorate already tense situation between two countries: ANP Chief

CHARSADDA: Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that closure of Torkham and Chaman borders with Afghanistan would deteriorate the already tense situation between the two countries.

Addressing party workers' gathering here at Wali Bagh on the occasion of Eidul Azha, Asfandyar Wali said that leaders from both sides should work on normalising the relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan rather than widening the divide between the neighbouring countries.

He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was only acceptable to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if they were given their due rights. Making it clear to the Centre, the ANP chief said that his party would not led the federal government start the CPEC project until the province had got due share of the CPEC benefits.

He also lambasted the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for not keeping his word regarding the project.

Asfandyar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan had turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the woes of the people of province.

The ANP chief said that terrorism and target killing on the Pakhtun land was a conspiracy against them.

He added that the followers of Bacha Khan would keep fighting against the terrorists till the last drop of blood in their veins.

The ANP chief said that despite illness he would visit every nook and corner of the province to create awareness in Pakhtuns about CPEC and other burning issues.

He said that the benefits related to CPEC were being diverted to Punjab but the PTI led Government in the province was yet to make any effort against it. He condemned the PTI chief for the disregard he had shown to the mandate of the province.

Imran Khan should have been consoling the relatives of Mardan blast victims but he chose to take out a rally and stage sit-in at Lahore.
