Tehmina Janjua urges UN to send its mission to Kashmir

NEW YORK: Tehmina Janjua, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nation's Geneva Office, urged the UN to send its mission to occupied Kashmir, in order to investigate the atrocities being committed by Indian security forces against Kashmiris.

Tehmina Janjua said that the inhumane treatment given to Kashmiris by the Indian security forces was concerning. She called on the United Nations to send its mission to occupied Kashmir and said that India was deliberately portraying Kashmiris' movement for independence as terrorism.

Janjua said that there was sufficient evidence of Indian violence and injustice against unarmed Kashmiri civilians hence the international community must intervene and act against Indian brutality as soon as possible. She further demanded a transparent inquiry into the violation of human rights that were taking place in occupied Kashmir and said that India was using cheap ploys to deflect attention from the dismal situation of occupied Kashmir.
