Cricket Council USA Condemns Attack on Sri Lankan Team

March 3, 2009 will long be remembered as the day the sport of cricket lost its innocence, says a CCUSA Press Release. It adds: Armed gunmen attacked the visiting Sri Lanka Cricket team in the crowded streets of Lahore, Pakistan. Cricket Council USA extends its sincerest condolences to the relatives of the victims. The prayers of the CCUSA staff go out to all the peace-keeping people of Pakistan; it is our fondest hope that the sport of cricket will not be used as a criminalist stage ever again.”
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those dedicated and heroic individuals, who lost their lives in the attack on the Sri Lanka Cricket Team", proclaimed MAQ Qureshi, CEO of Cricket Council USA. "It is with a heavy heart that I ask the millions of cricket and sports fans around the world to bond together to insure a tragedy like this never happens again. For hundreds of years, the wonderful sport of cricket has transcended the political and divisive barriers created by the despicable elements of our society. The purity of cricket will rise above this dreadful incident and carry on its tradition of caring for humanity."
CCUSA is proud to be a member of the same international cricket family as the fearless security guards, who lost their lives protecting the Sri Lanka team. Their courageous actions saved the lives of the Sri Lanka players and many innocent people.
