American MuslimDelegation Visits Turkey
Over 50 American Muslim religious leaders, scholars, and imams were invited by Diyanet Center of America to visit Turkey last month. They spent a week touring religious and historical sites besides meeting with representatives of the Diyanet, the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey, an entity that oversees all religious affairs in the country, including mosques, schools, and Islamic organizations.
The visit also included meetings with several muftis, deans of Islamic universities, and heads of research facilities and think tanks in the cities of Ankara, Konia, Busra, and Istanbul. The delegates also learned about the history and culture of Turkey and its humanitarian work at home and abroad.
Shura Council's Chairman and five other religious leaders and scholars from Southern California were part of the delegation.
