Besides Orphans, Saba Homes Now Serves the Handicapped and the Disabled Too
By Janas Khan

Saba’s newest multi-story building constructed in the heart of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi conforms to the highest construction standardsand provides wheelchair access to the handicapped and the needy.
Beginning with the entrance,well-paved ramps have been specially built for wheelchair commuters throughout the building: each classroom and washroom provides wheelchair access. This is also true for the entire building.
Thanks to Allah SWT’s Blessings, the building has elevators, a must for the safe and speedy movement of the handicapped. The building was designed by top architectsunder the guidance ofUS Aid that has also funded the grandiose structure. To ensure quality and sturdiness construction was monitored at every stage. No wonder, the building can be rated as better-than-the-best in the country.
Over the past many years with Allah SWT Blessings, SABA Trust has participated in various programs for thephysically handicapped individuals in different places and at different times. We were blessed to have arranged accommodation to these deserving individuals. Unfailingly, we took good care of them, sometimes for three days, when they attendeda conference in Islamabad. These disabled boys, girls, men, and women came from all parts of Pakistan. They included the physically disadvantaged individuals who were deprived of eyesight, had impaired hearing, or had lost a limb and needed special care and wheelchair access. We took care of them in our spacious buildings.
Allah SWT has blessed Saba with a 20,000 square feet head office building, next to the 15,000-square feet Saba Homes, which provides residence to our orphan daughters. There are several other buildings of this size for teaching and emergency relief purposes. It would be safe to say that we now have ample space for Saba Home’sexpanding educational, residential, as well as warehouse needs. The buildings are truly compact from the security point of view. The land worth US$ 300,000 has been donated byMrSaghir Ahmed Aslam, Saba Trust Chairman.
Saba Homes presently supports orphan girls, who are treated with affection and respect shown to daughters, between the ages of 10 to 21 years. Many visitors have ungrudgingly conceded that the Saba Trust is a unique institution, one of its kind in the world. The girls are provided the best educational facilities in famous educational institutions like the Army Public School and their present annual expenses approximate US$ 180,000 that are borne by SABA Homes in spite of its meager financial resources.

1. SABA Trust is truly a unique and one of its kind institution in the world.
2. It has been serving humanity for half a century, 52 years to be precise, with an impeccable track record.
3. In the first 40 years we did not solicit donations. After we started taking donations, audited financial reports were posted on our websiteevery year.
4. I will close with this belief: Insha Allah Saba Trust will find mention in history a few years from now and people will remember it as they remember the Aligarh University for its contribution asan eminent educational institution. With the help of humanitarians and philanthropists like Mian Amar Shabaz, Saba Trust will transform the prosperity of Pakistan to match that of yesteryear’s Japan and today’s China Insha Allah
