CNN Hero Razia Jan Shares Her Story of Courage


Hollywood, CA: At a gathering of Hollywood stars, Razia Jan, a CNN hero, humbly shared her story of courage and inspiration.
Born in Afghanistan, educated in the US, and now an American CNN Hero, Razia Jan continues to provide a Ray of Hope to hundreds of girls in a part of Kabul where her life is threatened daily. It’s now ten years, and her first class of girls has graduated. Presently they are learning to be midwives.
Education empowers girls and in turn empowers a community.
“Her inspiration and passion to educate girls is an inspiration to us all. Afghani and Pakistan Americans have so much in common; we must unite to educate and empower girls,” said Anila Ali, CEO Calpak. Calpak executive, Saima Qasim, also attended to show support for girls education.
Hollywood stars that showed up to support girls’ education were Josh Radner, from How I Met Your Mother, Abigail Spencer of Timeless, Suits and they both committed to advocating for girls’ education.
Pakistanis and Afghans are well settled in America and should collaborate on projects to support girls education.
