By Abdus Sattar Ghazali

A cricket coaching camp was held by international players Saqlain Mushtaq and Kamran Akmal at the ProCric indoor cricket facility in Milpitas California on Sunday, September 23.

Local youth cricket players from the Milpitas Cricket Club and Academy and other cricket groups around the San Francisco Bay Area received coaching from the international cricket certified coach and one of the best spin bowlers in the world, Saqlain Mushtaq, from Pakistan.
It may be pointed out that Saqlain Mushtaq has invented the "Doosra" ball that troubled the best batsmen in the world of cricket.
The coaching camp was jointly sponsored by Milpitas Cricket Academy and Bay Area Cricket Alliance (BACA).
On Monday, September 24, 2018, a gala dinner was held at the Chandni Restaurant in Newark, CA for the coaching camp participants who were given certificates from the USA Cricket World and the UK-based Saqlain Mushtaq Cricket Academy.
A large number of local cricket fans and businessmen also attended the event. Many officials and leaders of the Bay Area Cricket Alliance (BACA) were also present. Iftikhar Khan, President of the BACA League Monitoring Committee, was also among the attendees.
Shafiq Khan of the USA Cricket World of New York (USACW) addressed the cricket fans on the occasion. Milpitas cricket coaching camp was part of a tour of ten US cities arranged by the USACW.
The USACW Cricket Club was formed in 1992 in Queen, New York, with an ambitious objective to promote world class cricket in the USA involving local cricket leagues and clubs. It helps in providing grassroots cricketing opportunities to the local community.
Saqlain Mushtaq and Kamran Akmal answered questions and gave valuable tips to the young players in attendance.
Memorabilia such as shirts, cricket balls, and bats signed by Saqlain Mushtaq and Kamran Akmal, were auctioned off at the dinner.
A shirt signed by Saqlain was bought by Saeed Ahmed while Kamran Akmal’s shirt was bought by Saeed Khan.
Bilal Sadaqat bought cricket ball while Anshuman Chaudhy got a cricket bat.
The event MCs were: Vened Katharia, Abrar Ahmad and Zain Jeewanjee.
Founder and CEO of Milpitas Cricket Club and Academy in Milpitas, Abrar Ahmad, thanked the USA Cricket World of New York and its founder Shafiq Khan for bringing this coaching tour to ten major cities in the USA.
Abrar, who is also a former USA selector, told Pakistan Link; " My team and myself are pleased to be a partner with the USA Cricket World to bring professional coaching to the local youth to provide a good foundation for their cricket development at the young age.” He also thanked all supporters of cricket events including VstreemU, ProCric Shop, Geewan Gee Insurance and Chandni Restaurant.
