Aisamul Haq Wins Houston Doubles Title

Pakistani tennis player, Aisamul Haq Qureshi along with Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez won the first ATP Tour title as a team on Sunday.
The duo defeated British brothers Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 to win the Fayez Sarofim & Co US men’s clay court championship in Houston.
This is Aisamul Haq’s 17th ATP title while Gonzales has won 13.
Qureshi and Gonzales reached their first tour-level final at the New York Open in February, where they ultimately lost to German duo Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies. The Mexican-Pakistani duo first won a trophy in Brazil 11 years ago.
Speaking about the victory, Qureshi said: “I am glad that I succeeded in waving the Pakistan flag once again in a foreign land.”
He also thanked his partner: “Thanks to Santiago. He’s been sticking up with me and believing in me. I’m super happy that we managed to win. In the end today he stepped his game up and really showed why he’s been Top 20, and why he made the final of the French Open. This is his favorite surface and he definitely made the difference in the end.”
Qureshi vowed to bring greater laurels to the country with his performances in the future.
