Maulana Mohammad Ghouse Nadvi Passes away

The Muslim community of Southern California is mourning the death of Maulana Mohammad Ghouse Nadvi who passed away on Friday, February 8. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon
Maulana Nadvi was a well-known Muslim scholar who earned great respect for rendering invaluable religious services to the Muslim community of Southern California for the last forty years. He was also respected for 'Practicing before Preaching' the Islamic values in this part of the world.
May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus and give his family fortitude and courage to bear the monumental loss. My heartfelt condolences and sincere prayers are with the entire family during this most difficult time in their life.

I am extremely grateful to our highly respected scholar and President of the Fiqh Council of North America, Dr Muzammil H. Siddiqi, for paying his touching tribute to Maulana Nadvi who had attended and graduated from Nadwatul Ulama like him.
"Dr Ghouse Nadvi was a Hafiz, Qari and Alim. He came to study at Nadwatul Ulama when I was also a student there. We were not in the same class, but we met and knew each other since 1960. Our common teacher Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi and Maulana Rabey Nadwi spoke very highly of him.
“I came to Southern California in 1981. He also arrived here almost at the same time as an Imam of the Masjidul Islam in Inglewood. Later, he moved to San Bernardino and established a masjid and school there. Since 1989 he devoted his time to building the community in San Bernardino. He taught the Qur'an and Islamic studies and helped many young people to memorize the Qur'an. He worked quietly and persistently and has left his mark in Southern California.
“He was a very humble and kind person. Those who met him were impressed by his piety and devotion. We pray to Allah to bless him and reward him for his services for the cause of Islam and Muslims. May Allah accept him among His righteous servants."
Funeral prayers for Maulana Mohammad Ghouse Nadvi were held at the Islamic Society of Orange County on Saturday, February9, 2019 and he was later laid to rest in at Westminster Memorial Park. May his soul rest in peace. (Ameen)
