Massive Rally to Express Solidarity with Kashmiris in Los Angeles

One of the largest protest rallies to support the people of Kashmir was held in the heart of Hollywood, California on August 31, 2019, thanks to an initiative of the Council of Pakistan. Thousands participated in the rally to show unity and solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The United States Congress has called for hearings on Kashmir and that is considered a major victory for protesters including those who held protests at the United States Federal building, Los Angeles and succeeded in getting their message to United States Congress and the State Department.
Congressman Brad Sherman, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Asia, has announced a hearing on the human rights situation in South Asia. “The hearing will also focus on the Kashmir Valley, where many political activists have been arrested and daily life, the internet, and telephone communications have been interrupted,” he said. “The hearing will review the humanitarian situation in Kashmir. Are people able to get food, medical care, etc.?”
Congressman Brad Sherman stated, “I had an opportunity to meet with Americans from Kashmir Valley just a week ago in the San Fernando Valley, along with my colleague Congressman Andre Carson. We heard stories of difficulties encountered by my constituents and others and the fears they have for their loved ones.”
The Council of Pakistan is making all members of Congress aware of human rights violations taking place in Kashmir.
The protest was co-sponsored by Council of Pakistan, CAIR-LA, ICNA, PACE, PAASAND and other allies and organizations.
