Thanks to his words of commendation and the generosity of the attendees, the fundraising goal was met. The event concluded with light-hearted humor of comedian Omar Regan and an Umrah giveaway from Dar El Salam Travel.

For the past two decades, UMMA and Islah LA have both uniquely contributed to the social and spiritual development of the Greater LA area. UMMA is the first full-time charitable medical institution in the United States which was established by Muslims and has become a national model for the provision of culturally sensitive care.  Similarly, Islah LA is the first-of-its-kind in the United States, an inner-city community center founded by American Muslims to serve South LA. Together, these two organizations offer profound health, educational, social, and transitional housing opportunities to those in need. In a report highlighting the event, the Shura Council applauded the commitment of both the institutions, the tireless work of their staff and volunteers, and all well-wishers for their support.
