When the Covid-19 was declared a world pandemic by medical experts, it not only created a big fear in people to guard their lives but also took a big toll on people’s finances. Many businesses were shut down and employees were laid off from their jobs. Many of them with low income and month-to-month paychecks were in no position to pay their bills, rents or buy grocery for their families. Pakistan American Chamber & Commerce (PACC) stepped in to help out any way possible so some relief can be provided to those severely impacted by this life threatening and unexpected catastrophe. Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles and established in 1989. PACC has been at the forefront for last three decades and has been working diligently to make a difference in the community and rising to the call of needs. PACC has raised funds for many disasters including the mega earthquake in Pakistan in 2005, floods in Pakistan and hurricanes in the US to name a few.
PACC also played a key role during 2015 Special Olympic hosting Pakistan team, supplying Halal meals, gift packs and running shoes to the athletes, and collecting donations from local businesses. In addition, PACC has helped many small businesses locally to secure funding through local banks to keep operating their businesses affected by Covid-19 shutdown. Despite their busy and committed professional and family lives, board members devote their time to community work and charitable causes.
