Shura Council Statement on Eidul Adha 1442

Based on the Fiqh Council of North America’s (FCNA) position and article on Eidul Adha, the day of ‘Arafah is expected to be on Monday, July 19, 2021 so Eidul Adha 1442H is expected on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
In line with the FCNA’s methodology, a final determination will be made after the official Hajj announcement about the start of the lunar month.
We remind the community to start planning for the blessed first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, about which the Prophetic teaching states that “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” [Bukhari].
This includes fasting the day of ‘Arafah about which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.” [Muslim].
Please see timely reminders from our Shura TV media channel from local and national religious leaders about the importance of this pillar of Islam that commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and solidarity as shown by Prophets Mohammad and Ibrahim, peace be upon them. You can also get ideas on how to maximize good deeds in this time. Please refer to our recent Shura newsletter for ways you can offer devotional Udhiyah/Qurbani sacrifices.
Additional details on timing and logistics will be shared as they develop and are finalized Insha'Allah.
May Allah, the Most Merciful, make us deserving recipients of His mercy in all our days and times and help us reap the rewards of divine opportunities.
