A Father’s Belief in Education!

As he watched children in uniforms, making their way to a school outside the village, Ehsan Ali, a farmer in Gujjo (Sindh), would wish the same for his children.

“I never went to school. Watching these children talk with confidence made me realize the importance of education," shares Ehsan. "I also wanted my children to develop skills and have opportunities." he recalls from fifteen years back.

It was a far-fetched dream. He could barely afford the expenses. Ehsan prayed for a miracle.

In 2007, The Citizens Foundation built a school in his village. He immediately enrolled his children and also secured a job as the gatekeeper of the school. Today, two of his daughters, both TCF alumni, are teaching at the same TCF campus alongside pursuing their BSc degrees. His son is working as a school administrator and is also enrolled in a BA program.

"Had abba (father) wanted, he could have put me to work or married off my sisters at an early age, which was quite common. But he prioritized education for us." shares his son, Hussain.

Today, Ehsan couldn't be prouder of his children for contributing to the betterment of their community.

This #FathersDay, join us in honoring fathers like Ehsan who believe in the power of education.
Happy Father's Day! - TCF
