WIC, ISGW and Other Institutions Support Rescue Efforts for Quake Victims

Worcester, MA: An email message states:   In the wake of the devastating earthquakes of the magnitude of 7.8 and 7.6 in Turkey and Syria, that left hundreds of thousands homeless and the death toll in the 20 thousands and still rising - expatiates and people in the US are opening their heart and digging deep into their pockets to donate as much as they possibly can to help the victims and those effected by the earthquakes.

The local Islamic centers, Worcester Islamic Center (WIC) and the Islamic Society of Worcester (ISGW) are among the many in Massachusetts and across the United States who are making appeals, in their respective communities to come out and help their fellow brothers in Turkey and Syria in every way they can. Many centers have and continue to engage in clothes/medical supplies drive, including providing basic necessities to help the victims.

Boots on the ground : Many doctors, in collaboration with 'Doctors Wordwide' and HHRD (Helping Hand) are planning to take a medical team to Turkey as early as next week.

At a time like this the only humane thing to do is to come together and help as much as possible.

".. We ask Allah to protect our brothers and sisters, to support them during this difficult time - We are one ummah [community] and we grieve together for this calamity..."  - Osman Acheampong (President WIC)
