Invitation to take part in a research study

You are invited to participate in a 10-minute survey by Mohammad I. Abbasi, MPA, a PhD candidate affiliated with Rutgers University, School of Public affairs and administration, New Jersey. Mohammad.abbasi@rutgers.edu. This survey is part of a research study named: Civic and political engagement of American Muslim young adults. The survey takes place on online using Qualtrics platform licensed to Rutgers University.

This is exploratory research to learn about the modes of civic and political participation of American Muslim young adults. By analyzing the responses from the online Qualtrics survey, I aim to learn how young American Muslims live their civic and political lives in the US. An understanding of the variety of ways American Muslim young adults participate in the democratic process is important to multiple stakeholders: 1) community leaders seeking volunteer human resources, 2) philanthropists who support community development projects, 3) scholars and policy makers working to understand the preferences of American young Adults in general, and Muslims specifically.

If you are 18 years or older, you are welcome to participate. The only other requirement is that you identify as a Muslim and live in the United States. Levels of commitment or religiosity are not conditions to participation. There will be no direct benefit if you participate, and the survey is expected to take less than 10 minutes to complete. If you have questions about taking part in this study, you can contact Mohammad Abbasi, Mohammad.abbasi@rutgers.edu .

If you have questions, concerns, problems, information or input about the research or would like to know your rights as a research subject, you can contact the Rutgers IRB or the Rutgers Human Subjects Protection Program via phone at (973) 972-3608 or (732) 235-2866 or (732) 235-9806 OR via email irboffice@research.rutgers.edu, or you can write us at 335 George Street , Liberty Plaza Suite 3200, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
