Nuzaira Azam, currently serving as the Washington correspondent for The Financial Daily, provided insight into the essence of the book. She emphasized that it serves as a comprehensive documentation of the perspectives of seasoned journalists who faced diverse challenges in upholding the principles of their profession. The book captures the journalists' candid discussions about their tribulations, including instances of persecution and imprisonment, while remaining steadfast in their commitment to journalistic integrity. Azam highlighted that the primary objective of the book is to preserve these narratives for the benefit of future journalists and historians.

In addition to her journalistic endeavors, Nuzaira Azam leads The Global Beat Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting journalists and journalism students. The foundation actively engages in providing media training, focusing on empowering reporters from remote areas of Pakistan. Azam's commitment extends beyond journalism as she conducts insightful talks on politics, current affairs, media, and the perspectives of the new generation through her organization.

Reflecting on the integral spirit of struggle in human evolution, Hussain Naqi underscored the importance of a free press in democratic Pakistan. He lamented historical government attempts to manipulate media narratives and impose restrictions on newspapers. Naqi revealed the challenges journalists faced in obtaining permissions, emphasizing the vital role of the press in public communication.

Wajahat Masood, editor of the internet magazine "Hum Sab," asserted that the central struggle in the country lies not between the right and left but between the state and its citizens. He portrayed journalism as a service devoid of discrimination, likening journalists to doctors saving lives without considering race, caste, religion, or language. Masood acknowledged the contemporary journalist's access to diverse sources, contrasting it with the challenges faced by journalists in the past.

Dr Nabila Rehman highlighted the book's focus on the experiences of journalists, emphasizing the importance of interview procedures and their relevance to future researchers. She underscored journalism's role as a messenger conveying news with empathy, imparting essential skills, and emphasizing the responsible dissemination of truth.

Expressing gratitude, Dr Lubna Zaheer, Chairperson of the department, extended thanks to the distinguished guests, presenting bouquets alongside Professor Sobia Abid.

The event, orchestrated by Warda Shehzadi of Q & K Productions, stood as a testament to the Department of Film and Broadcasting's commitment to fostering intellectual discourse and preserving the rich tapestry of journalistic history. - iqbal.zafar1509@gmail.com
