Muslim Community Urged to Support Crescent Gardens Cemetery Project

 

Orange, CA: “We are calling for urgent public support for the Crescent Gardens Cemetery Project by  signing this petition ,” urges an Islamic Shura Council Southern California message. It adds:

The proposed cemetery site near Lake Elsinore, purchased by the  Muslim Mortuary and Cemetery Committee  (MMCC), represents a vital initiative that will provide more than 20,000 affordable burial spaces for Muslims in Southern California, particularly for those living in the Inland Empire and surrounding communities. This project addresses a growing and urgent need for dignified, affordable Islamic burial services for the region’s rapidly expanding Muslim population.

The Riverside County Planning Department has recommended approval of the project to the Planning Commission. A public hearing for final consideration will take place on Wednesday, April 1st, at 9:00 AM at the County Administrative Building.

Some organized groups have raised concerns regarding potential impacts on water quality in the nearby lake. However, the MMCC team has conducted thorough environmental studies and provided detailed responses demonstrating that the project will not adversely affect the surrounding environment. These findings have been reviewed and accepted by the County’s technical staff.

Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, an umbrella organization for more than 100 Mosques in Southern California, is asking YOU to sign this  public petition  in support of the project. We need to collect more than 5,000 signatures before the April 1st hearing to demonstrate strong community backing.

“This cemetery will serve thousands of Muslim families for generations to come,” said ISCSC chairwoman, Dr Deana Helmy. “We urge community members to stand together and support this essential project.”

Residents are also encouraged to share the petition with family, friends, and community networks to help reach the signature goal.
