Jemima Writes to Elon Musk, Seeking Help
London: Jemima Goldsmith, the ex-wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, publicly appealed to X owner Elon Musk on Friday, claiming that her posts about Khan’s imprisonment are being suppressed on the platform.
Goldsmith said her updates regarding Khan’s treatment in Pakistani prison and his legal ordeal “do not reach the public,” urging Musk to address what she described as visibility filtering on her account.
In her posts, Goldsmith highlighted that her two sons have been barred from seeing their father, who has been “held unlawfully” for 22 months in solitary confinement. She stressed that X is the “only place left” to tell the world that Khan is a “political prisoner without basic human rights,” but she claimed that the reach of her posts, both inside Pakistan and globally, has been “throttled to almost zero.”
“You promised free speech, not ‘speech but no one hears it’,” she wrote, urging Musk to fix the visibility filtering on her account.
Goldsmith detailed evidence from X’s AI, Grok, showing her reach had drastically dropped.
She added that the turning point was May 2025, when one post spiked to 4 million impressions the day Pakistan’s X ban ended, proving her audience was still engaged before impressions were “instantly crushed to near zero.”
Goldsmith has also accused authorities of preventing her sons from speaking to Khan and threatening to arrest them if they attempt to visit. Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, echoed concerns outside Adiala Jail, stating:
"We have been coming here for the last 8 months…We are not allowed to meet Imran Khan. They are torturing him. He has been kept in illegal isolation. They should end this torture against Imran Khan." – Times Now
